891. The Meaning of Yom Kippur

The meaning of Yom Kippur [Day of Atonement]. Why does Rosh Hashanah [beginning of the year] not atone, but specifically Yom Kippur?

We should say that through the Rosh Hashanah prayers, we see the truth, that man has iniquities, and then he can ask for atonement for the iniquities. This is why Yom Kippur comes after Rosh Hashanah.
