The Creator’s Delights with the Righteous in the Garden of Eden
1. It is written, “counsels from afar, steadfast faith.” “Steadfast faith” are two that are one. One is a garden, faith, Malchut, and one is a river, steadfast, Yesod [foundation]. The Yesod comes out from Eden, Hochma, and Malchut is watered by it.
2. “Lord, you are my God, I will exalt you; I will praise Your name, for You have done wonders, counsels from afar, steadfast faith.” One who awakens from his sleep at night when the Creator enters the garden, Malchut, to delight with the righteous, should say this verse with a willing heart and aim his will in it.
Afterwards, he should say, “I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and my soul knows very well.” Afterwards, “and a river come out of Eden to water the garden.” This is the praise of the first Hassidim [people with the quality of Hesed] when they would wake up at midnight. Afterwards, they established their praises and engaged in Torah.
3. What is the delight of the Creator with the righteous in the Garden of Eden? All the righteous stand in their form and clothe in the Garden of Eden in a clothing each and every day, and bathe in the dew that the Creator has prepared to revive the dead. They all enter the Messiah and ask what they ask.
4. Afterwards, they gather and engage in upper knowledge, and there are several appointees over them, and several innovations of the Torah are renewed there. Then, everyone goes out and sees when Elijah comes to the patriarchs. When he comes out, they go in and stand before the patriarchs, and the patriarchs are happy with them, with several holy sons around them, and everyone is happy.
5. When the Creator comes at midnight, everyone stands properly corrected, and all the engagement that they engaged in all that day in innovations of the Torah is corrected before them. The Creator’s passion is in these righteous, who made innovations in the Torah. He delights in them and delights in these words of Torah, and so it is with each and every righteous.
6. Afterwards, everyone is corrected male and female, and the Creator, having smelled and delighted Himself in them and in all their secrets of the wisdom, is revealed upon them and they see Him in that pleasantness of the Creator. At that time, everyone rejoices with great delight until their brightness and light spreads, and from that expansion of the brightness and the light of their joy, they bear fruits and offspring to the world, meaning souls, and those fruits enter under the wings of the Shechina until the time that is needed.
7. So He delights in every righteous and says, “Happy is the king that these children have been sorted for his portion and lot.” And a voice awakens from the middle of the garden in the firmament and calls out loud and says, “Remember Lord the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem, who say, ‘Raze it, raze it to its very foundation!’” That time is His alarm and outcry, and all the righteous who are there awaken weeping.
8. And the voice awakens from the middle of the firmament, and is heard in 390 firmaments, for there is no joy and delight to the Creator except when He stands with the righteous who are there. For this reason, He swears and says, “If I forget you, Jerusalem, let my right hand be forgotten, let my tongue be glued to the top of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not make Jerusalem my chief joy.” Wherever there is joy to the Creator, that voice comes out and calls out.
9. At that time, it comes out of there and strikes firmaments and roars until all the armies of heaven are in a medley. At that time, a wind blows and strikes the leaves of that great tree, and all its branches strike one another and a voice awakens from within the foliage of the tree and calls out, “He remembers His covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations— the covenant He made with Abraham, and the oath He swore to Isaac.” When that voice awakens, Abraham the grandfather hears and awakens, and then is the time of the good will of the king, and he is comforted with it.
10. At that time, a spirit awakens from the south side, and every good will and joy and healing awaken in the world. Then, the morning shines and the good will is found, and there is rest for all the king’s prisoners in the houses of their illness. Happy are the people who can know the hidden and concealed secrets of the holy king.
