He Shakes the Earth from Its Place
40. “He shakes the earth from its place, and its pillars will tremble.” When the Creator wishes to shake the whole world, to excite and rattle its pillars, He shakes it only from His place, from the point of Zion, Yesod of Malchut, from which the world was founded.
41. The world was founded from Zion, as it is written, “A psalm for Asaf, the Mighty One, God the Lord, has spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.” Afterwards, it is written, “Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.”
42. When the Creator created the world, He brought light in light, and clothed them in one another and created the heaven, as it is written, “He wraps Himself in light as with a garment; He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.”
43. That light is called the “light of His garment,” the first light in which the Creator clothed. That light expanded in grandeur and splendor, and the world was created, as it is written, “You are clothed with grandeur and splendor.”
