As the Sun at Its Fullest Strength
62. The children of God, the angels, stand over the stars, and when the other armies that praise at night conclude their singing, these children of God blow the horn and the camps that govern at night congregate to their place.
63. At that time, all the stars that govern in the day, in the morning, shiver and are afraid, and raise up singing, for now it is their time to praise their lord, when they hear that cheer, as it is written, “When the morning stars sing together, and all the sons of God will cheer.”
64. Rabbi Yitzhak said to Rabbi Nehorai, “I wondered when I was looking at the sun, since when it came out, it came out red, and afterwards, it returned to being white. Why is this so?”
65. When the sun comes out, it comes out in strength, like a mighty man, and breaches thirteen hollows of windows in the firmament.
66. In all the stars and signs in heaven, there is none who is called “mighty” but the sun. What is the mighty deed that it does? When the day ends and the night comes, all the windows and hollows in the firmament are closed. When the day arrives and the sun comes out, it is crowned and engraved with the letters of the holy name, and with the might and the strength of the holy name, enters all the firmaments, breaches all the windows, which burn in its flames, and it opens them and comes outside.
67. How do we know that the sun is called “mighty one”? It is written, “rejoices like a strong man to run its race,” and it is written, “as the sun at its fullest strength.” Like a mighty one who enters a war and is defeated, it is red. When it wins, it returns to its previous color. Likewise, when the sun comes out, its flames light up in it, and it is red from all its strength. And afterwards, it returns to its initial color.
The sun is ZA, the middle line, which unites right and left with one another. Afterwards, it positions the left under the governance of the right. During the day, the right governs, which is why it is light. At night, the left line governs, which is darkness and is not under the control of the right.
Hence, at nightfall, the correction of the middle line that unites right and left with one another and then places the left under the governance of the right is corrupted. Instead, the left line shines without the governance of the right, which is why it becomes dark. And because each night, the act of the unification of right and left through the middle line is spoiled, when the night is over, the middle line, the sun, must renew the act of unifying the right and left of the middle line through the judgments of the screen of Hirik in it, which diminishes the GAR of Hochma in the left line and unites it with the right.
When the sun, ZA, emerges for its governance, the governance of the day, to shine in Hassadim that are in the right line, it emerges with Gevura like a mighty man, emerging with a screen of Hirik to fight as a hero with the left line, and diminish the GAR of Hochma in it in order to unite it with the right. It breaches thirteen hollows of windows that are in the firmament, since by the unification of right and left, which the middle line performs, three lines and Malchut who receives them emerge, and in each of these four there are three lines, and four times three is twelve, and with itself, they are thirteen.
It is regarded that the sun, the middle line, shines through these thirteen windows. Since each night, when the governance of the left arrives, the act of unification of right and left becomes spoiled, and therefore, they close each night. When the night is over, the sun, the middle line, must breach them again and open them.
What is the Gevura [mighty deed] that the sun does? When the governance of the right line, the day, ends, and the night comes, the governance of the left line, all the windows and hollows in the firmament close, for then the unification of right and left that the middle line had done is spoiled, and the thirteen windows that were made through his unification are closed. When the thirteen windows of the firmament close, it becomes dark.
When the day arrives, when the time of the governance of the right line arrives, and the sun, the middle line, emerges for its work of uniting the right and the left, and ordaining the light of the right, it crowns itself and becomes engraved with the letters of the holy name, since the four letters HaVaYaH imply the three lines and Malchut who receives them.
In the might and the strength of the holy name, it enters all the firmaments, thirteen firmaments that emerge from the three lines and Malchut, and breaches all the windows, breaching the blockings that were made in the windows of the firmament due to the governance of the left. They are burned by its flames, reducing the GAR of the left with the flames of the judgments in the screen of Hirik, and it opens them. At that time, it returns and unites the right and the left, which open once more the thirteen windows of the firmament, and emerges outside, for then its light emerges through the thirteen windows to shine outwards.
The order of the unification of the three lines is that at first, it gives control to the illumination of the left line, and then unites it with the right, and the right, too, is incorporated with the left. Finally, after they are incorporated with each other, it remains in control of the right.
It follows that in the beginning of the unification, the right is defeated by the governance of the left, but in the end, the right defeats the left. Like a hero who goes to war and is defeated, it is red, since in the beginning of the war, the left takes control over the right, and the right is defeated. For this reason, in the beginning of its emergence, the sun is red like the left line. But in the end, the left remains under the control of the right, and the right wins. For this reason, the sun returns to a white appearance like the right line.
The children of God, the angels, stand over the stars, and when the other armies that praise at night complete their singing, these children of God shout a cheer and gather, since the angels that are extended from the left line sing at night. When they complete their singing, when the governance of the day arrives, the right line, the angels that serve the middle line arrive carrying the screen of Hirik that diminishes the left line, and that act of diminution is regarded as the shouting of the cheer.
These children of God shout a cheer, and then the left line is diminished, and those angels that are extended from it also become diminished and stop singing. Then, all the camps that govern at night assemble to their place, meaning stop their singing.
At that time, all the stars that govern in the day, which are the angels extended from the middle line, tremble and fear due to the cheer, the judgments of the screen of Hirik of the middle line. However, by this, the lines unite with one another and remain under the control of the right, and raise up a song, for it is their time to sing, as it is written, “When the morning stars sing together.”
When it is the time of the singing of the angels that govern in the morning, who are extended from the middle line, then “And all the children of God shall cheer,” meaning that the children of God first shout a cheer in order to diminish the left line and unite it with the right, and by this the morning light shines and the morning stars sing.
68. “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.” This verse is true, when the sons of Jacob told their father, “Hear O Israel.” Or, Moses to Israel, when he said to them, “Hear O Israel.” But now, the whole world is saying “Hear O Israel.” To which Israel are they speaking?
69. Jacob the patriarch did not die, and the Creator sealed him with His throne, so he would always be a testimony over his children, who unite the name of the Creator each day twice as it should be. When they unite the name of the Creator, they say, “Hear O Israel,” be our witness as we unite the name of the Creator properly.”
70. At that time, Jacob is taken with four wings that are spread to the four directions of the world, and is raised before the upper, holy one, who blesses him with seven blessings. The Creator opened and said, “Happy is the father who begot this seed in the earth. Happy are the sons who crown their father in this way.” At that time, all the armies of heaven open and say, “Blessed be the name of His kingship forever and ever.”
71. Jacob is crowned in the thirteen rivers of pure persimmon, and he always stands over his sons like a city surrounded by a wall before the Creator. He does not let a harsh judgment rule over them, which is why all the people of the world will not be able to obliterate them, as it is written, “Fear not, My servant Jacob.”
72. As there are twelve tribes below, which are the children of Jacob, so there is an upper Jacob in the heaven, ZA, and twelve upper tribes, twelve phases in Malchut that receive forty-two combinations of HaVaYaH in ZA. As Israel unites the name of the Creator below, holy angels unite above, and it is all as it is above.
