And the Lord Answered Job from the Storm

30. When the Creator appeared to Job, it is written, “And the Lord answered Job from the storm and said.” He replied to him for what he said, “For He crushes me with a tempest.” Job said, “Lord of the world, perhaps a stormy wind passed by Him, and my name Iov [Job] was replaced for You with Oyev [enemy],” as it is written, “and regard me as Your enemy.” For this reason, He answered him from the storm.

31. The storm of Satan, which made the body of Job be stormed, is as it is written, a stormy wind does His word,” that he has no permission to do anything unless by the word of the Creator.

32. It is written about the letter Shin, “For He crushes me with a tempest,” and it is written about the letter Samech, “from the storm.” Here it is written, “in a storm,” and there it is written, “the he-goats, after whom they have played the harlot.”

33. It is written, “in a tempest,” once a male, and once a female. Once a male, as it is written, “And carried the he-goat on him,” and it is written, “but Esau, my brother, a man of Seir [Seir also means he-goat].” Once a female, as it is written, “And Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.” It is written about the Samech, “From the storm,” which makes a person’s body storm.

34. It is written, “And Elijah went up to heaven in a storm.” When the Creator raised Elijah to the firmament, the angel of death stood in front of him.

35. The Creator said, “This is how I have created heaven, for Elijah to rise to there.” The angel of death replied, “Lord of the world, now people will have a reason for complaint.” The Creator said, “He is not as other people, and he can remove you from the world, and you do not know his power.” He said to Him, “Lord of the world, permit me, and I will go down to him.” He said, “Go down.” He went down immediately.

When Elijah saw him, he forced him under his feet and sought to remove him from the world, but the Creator did not permit him. Promptly, he bent him under him and rose to heaven, as it is written, “And Elijah went up to heaven in a storm.”

36. When the Creator appeared to Job, He appeared to him in that storm, as it is written, “From the storm.” The Nun is bent and not stretched. The Creator bent him like a serpent walking on its belly, and spoke with him. He said to Job, “Where were you when I established the earth?” Promptly, he went silent and could not withstand His admonition, indicating that the Creator’s actions are in truth.
