He Has Given Food to Those Who Fear Him

30. It is written, “He has given food to those who fear Him; He will forever remember His covenant.” “He has given food to those who fear Him” are the righteous, who fear the Creator, since anyone who fears Him is regarded as being from among the household of the king. It is written about him, “Happy if the man who fears the Lord.”

31. What is “He has given food to those who fear Him”? It is as it is written, “She rises while it is still night and gives food to her household.” The righteous are the people of his household, hence they receive food. Anyone who engages in Torah at night and rises at midnight, when the assembly of Israel, Malchut, awakens to correct the king’s house, to draw illumination of Hochma for him, as it is written, “In wisdom shall a house be built,” that man participates with her. This is regarded that he is from the king’s household, and each day, he is given from these corrections of the house, as it is written, “and gives food to her household and a law to her maidens.” Food is illumination of Hochma. A law is that she will not be drawn from above downward. Her household are all those who participate with her to engage in Torah at night, her household. This is why it is written, “He has given food to those who fear Him.”

32. Food means that she preys and takes by force, implying the judgments that are revealed with the Hochma. She takes from a far and high place, as it is written, “She brings her bread from afar,” which is Hochma, as it is written, “I said, ‘I will be wise,’ but it was far from me.” One who exerts in Torah, to participate with her at night, is rewarded with this food, as it is written, “He will forever remember His covenant,” since the Torah is called “covenant.” Moreover, the Creator has a high righteous one, Yesod of ZA, and that man participates with Him to bestow upon Malchut, and both inherit the assembly of Israel, as it is written, “The righteous will inherit the land.” The righteous engages in Torah at night, and the upper righteous will inherit the kingship, the land.
