Lord, in the Morning You Shall Hear My Voice
350. King David said, “Lord, in the morning You shall hear my voice; in the morning I will set up for You and hope.” The morning is Abraham’s morning, Hesed, which awakens in the world, as it is written, “And Abraham arose early in the morning,” since when the morning comes, that morning, Hesed, awakens in the world, and it is a time of good will for all to do Hesed to the whole world, to the righteous and to the wicked. At that time, it is a time of prayer, to pray before the holy King.
351. Hence, when the morning comes, all those prisoners of the king, the sinners who are imprisoned in the shackles of sin, find rest, and it is a time of prayer for them. It is even more so for those who repent and make their request before the holy King.
It is so because at that time, one appointee comes out to the south side, Hesed, whose name is Raphael, with all kinds of healings in his hand. From the south side, Hesed, one spirit emerges and reaches the one appointed over healing, Raphael. When the prayer reaches the Creator, He appoints His courthouse so they do not begin to judge, since life is in the hands of the Creator and not in their hands.
352. Because it is a time of good will, the Creator seeks to advocate a person. If he is in prayer or has repented, He has mercy on him. At that time, the sound of nesting birds is heard, as it is written, “where birds build their nests,” since those birds thank and praise the Creator, and that morning doe [hind] awakened in the world and said, “How great is Your goodness, which You have concealed for those who fear You.” At that time, that appointee over healing comes out and does all that he has been commanded.
353. The kinds of healing are not in the hands of that appointee, since healing is only in the hands of the holy King. However, when the Creator commands healing on that person, the appointee goes out, and all the slanderers appointed over bad illnesses fear him. Then, that spirit which travels from the south side, the spirit of Hesed, gives the Hesed to the person, and healing is found. However, it is all in the hands of the Creator.
354. This is why it is written, “Lord, in the morning You will hear my voice,” and it is not written “Lord, hear my voice,” since it speaks of the morning of Abraham. It is written, “In the morning I will set up for You and hope.” Why the twofold “morning”? One morning of Abraham, Hesed, and one morning of Joseph, as it is written, “As the morning was light,” shining, of course. The morning of Abraham is Hesed covered from Hochma, and Joseph’s morning is Hesed revealed in illumination of Hochma. “I will set up for You and hope.” I will set up for You Your candle to light. This refers to Joseph’s morning since the setting up of the candle is his.
355. What is “and hope”? After all, all the people in the world hope and wait for the Creator’s mercy, as it is written, “I said, ‘I will be wise,’ but it was far from me.” The first light that the Creator created shone until the worlds could not tolerate it. What did the Creator do? He made a light for His light, so they would clothe one another, and likewise all the other lights, so each upper degree clothes in a degree below it, until all the worlds maintain their existence and can tolerate.
356. For this reason, the degrees expanded and the lights clothed, and those garments, where the lower one clothes the upper one, are called upper wings. Until they reach that morning of Joseph, who takes all the upper lights, since Yesod contains all the lights above it. Since all the upper lights depend on him, his radiance rises from the end of the world to the end of the world above, until the worlds below it cannot tolerate.
David came and established that candle, which is a cover for that morning of Joseph, to cover itself with it, to sustain the world below in the order of that candle. This is why it is written, “In the morning I will set up for You and hope.” It is written, “And he coated it with pure gold.” Since that candle is David’s, who is a Merkava [structure/chariot] for Malchut and depends on her, he said that he would be a cover over that morning of Joseph.
Joseph’s morning is Hochma and Hassadim, since Yesod contains all the lights above it. Since Yesod contains all the lights Hochma and Hassadim, it shone above from the end of the world to its end. However, it could not bestow below it, since the light of Hochma is not bestowed from above downward, as the worlds below it cannot tolerate for its light to expand from above downward, since then the judgments increase.
This is why there was a need for the correction of Malchut, the female, who shines only from below upward. Only she could guarantee that the light of Hochma in Yesod would not be bestowed below, and this is why David came and established that candle, which is a cover over that morning of Joseph, to cover itself with it, for the light of Hochma in Yesod to be covered with Malchut, who is called a “candle,” in a way that nothing will shine from above downward. At that time, all the worlds will be able to receive abundance from Malchut and will persist.
This is why it is written, “In the morning I will set up for You and hope.” He will arrange for the light of Hochma in Yesod to shine from below upward, and by this, “and hope,” which is a word for covering [In Hebrew, Atzapeh means both “cover” and “hope”], that Malchut will coat and cover that light so it does not expand from above downward.
