Garments of Skin
33. “And the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.” Were they stripped of that skin thus far? Yes, because until now, they did not have those garments of skin because they had clothes of honor. Thus, they were unworthy even of garments of skin since they sinned in the tree of knowledge. But He did not clothe them with garments of skin before they sinned. Rather, after they sinned, it is written, “And the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.”
34. So it is, that it was after the sin. However, at first, they were clothed as above, with the upper brightness of ZA, and were stripped from the colors of below, of this world, and the upper light surrounded them. After they sinned, He returned them to the colors of this world and removed from them the colors of above, which they had from ZA, as it is written, “And the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them,” as in this world.
It is written, “And Aaron and his sons you shall present, and you shall clothe them with garments.” There, it was as above, the light ZA, and here, with the garments of skin of Adam HaRishon, as below. For this reason, there they are called “garments of six,” implying ZA, who is called “six,” after VAK [acronym for “six edges” in Hebrew], and here, garments of skin, from Malchut, who is called “skin,” “this world.” Although this is so, the beauty of those garments superseded everything.
35. “And the eyes of both of them were opened.” Their eyes were opened in the pattern of this world, in the depiction that is customary in this world. This was not so before, for there were overseers and supervisors above, in the upper world.
For the future [end of correction], it is written, “And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know,” since the Creator is destined to open eyes that were not wise, to gaze at the upper wisdom and attain what they did not attain in this world, so they will know their Master. Happy are the righteous who will be rewarded with that wisdom, for there is no wisdom such as that wisdom, and there is no knowledge such as that knowledge, and there is no adhesion such as that adhesion.
