And You Shall Contemplate It Day and Night
2. The Torah teaches a person to walk on the path of truth. It teaches him advice on how to repent before his master, and even if he is sentenced to death, everything is revoked and departs from him, and is not over him. Hence, he should engage in Torah day and night, and not stray from it, as it is written, “And you shall contemplate it day and night.” If he removes the Torah from himself or parts from it, it is as though he parted from life.
3. Advice for a person: When he goes to bed at night, he should take upon himself the burden of the kingdom of heaven wholeheartedly and rush to deposit the soul. This is so because every person tastes the taste of death at night, since the tree of death, Malchut, is in the world, and all the spirits of people come out and rise and hide in Malchut. Because they are given as a deposit, they all later return to their place.
